Educate. Participate. Advocate.

Volunteer

We have lots of ways to participate. You can join an Action Team or a committee, or volunteer at one of our events. Contact us and let us know what you’re interested in.

Each year, the League determines its program priorities based on feedback from members and volunteers who take the lead in creating and implementing activities. We call groups of members focused on an activity or issue Action Teams (see information on Action Teams below).

The League has three levels: local, state and national. We are the local League. If you don’t see something here that you are interested in or if you want to participate on state level issues, visit the League of Women Voters of North Carolina Action Teams.

    Equal Rights Amendment

At the state level, this action team coordinates with LWVNC on advocating for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment by the NC Legislature. At the national level, the team supports passage of US House and Senate joint resolutions which would remove the amendment’s ratification deadline.

National Popular Vote Action Team (NPV)

This Action Team coordinates with the North Carolina League and local chapters in advocating for the introduction and passage of a National Popular Interstate Compact Bill by the North Carolina Legislature. The National Popular Vote organization provides information and guidance.

    Redistricting and Voter Services

What we do may well be the most important work of the League. Our core mission is to protect the rights of voters, fight for fairly drawn districts, ensure free and fair elections, and educate citizens about voting and elections.
