ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Early voting for municipal elections in North Carolina ends Saturday, and many cities and towns across Western North Carolina are holding elections for local leaders.

Election officials said turnout has been a bit slow, but this has given voters and officials a chance to see how new the ExpressVote machines are working.

All you have to do is make your selections on the screen, and then your ballot is printed off with the chosen names.

“I think everyone is enjoying them. They’re finding them to be fairly simple, straightforward,” Buncombe County Deputy Director of Elections Neggy Fox said. “It has a lot of mechanisms for people if they miss a vote. If they need to go back, you can certainly do that.”

There have not been any major issues, election officials said.

In-person voting for municipal elections is Tuesday, Nov. 7.
