ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Tuesday, September 19, 2023

Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day, and Buncombe County election officials did Facebook lives in English and Spanish, encouraging people to register.

North Carolina is one of the first states to cast ballots in presidential elections and the first in the nation to vote absentee by mail.

There are elections in Weaverville and Woodfin this fall.

Election officials also addressed concerns over voter fraud.

“There are overlapping security measures from physical security to cyber security to chain of custody. Your vote will be counted correctly,” Buncombe County Election Services Director Corinne Duncan said.

Duncan said anyone over 18 who is a United States citizen and a North Carolina resident for at least 30 days, who is not serving a felony, may register.
