DESCRIPTION:There will be a repeat showing of the documentary “The Power to Heal\,” Wednesday\, April 20th\, 6:30 pm Pacific Time\, 9:30 pm Eastern\, by the League of Women Voters of Berkeley\, Albany\, and Emeryville\n \n“The Power to Heal” tells how\, after the passage of the Civil Rights and Medicare Acts\, movement leaders and grass-roots volunteers worked to end the practice of racially segregating health care delivery. In essence\, they “kicked Jim Crow out of hospitals.” The film helps us become better informed about the decades of struggle against racism in health care and brings optimism that working together\, patients\, community members\, healthcare workers\, and public officials can overcome the remaining obstacles to achieve universal\, affordable\, equitable\, and high quality health care. \nThe film lasts 56 minutes.
