Women’s Suffrage Celebration

Sunday, October 13, 2019
2-5 pm
Patton Parker House, 95 Charlotte Street, Asheville

You’re invited to a celebration at Asheville’s historic Patton Parker House!

On November 1894, a group of women met at Mayor Patton’s to plan a rally for the next day at the county courthouse. The NC Equal Suffrage Association was formed and the fight for women’s right to vote was launched. Mayor Patton’s granddaughter, Mary Toole Parker, became a civic leader, helped integrate Asheville YWCA as the first in the South and was a founding member of the local League.

Come and experience our local suffrage history at the Patton Parker House on Sunday October 13th, where the Women’s Suffrage Movement in North Carolina began! This is a free event. There is no admission charge although donations are always welcome. Parking is free in the lot next door. For more information go to our Suffrage Celebration page.
